Most Commonly asked QandA (as of January 10, 2010)
Q1: I did what you did, but my hair still wont curl, what can I do?
A1: I have a video called Blair Waldorf/Gossip Girl Inspired hair. In that video I am using the same curling iron, using a different curling technique that will get you the same kind of curls as in this video.
Q2: I curl my hair, but then two seconds later it falls out. How can I get it to stay?
A2: Hair stays curled longer when its dirty, meaning its gotta have stuff in it to keep the curl. So curling it on unwashed hair (second day hair Google it if you do know what this means) keeps the curls intact longer. Also, have some sort of product in your hair. After youve washed it, put product in it! Dont be afraid of products! You can put in a curl/volume setting mousse or gel, blow dry it, then curl.
Q3: Well, I did that (refer to question 2) and it still wont stay?
A3: If this is the case, before curling a section of hair, hairspray it, more towards the middle and ends of hair, brush the product throughout the hair section and then most importantly LET THE HAIR DRY BEFORE CURLING!!! I cannot stress this enough, if you want beautiful hair, you have to keep it healthy so NEVER EVER curl hair while its wet. Whether its wet because of water or product, the instant touch of a hot iron will burn your hair, and over time you will have breakage and split ends. Once its dry, begin to curl. If the curling technique doesnt help, please refer to my video Blair Waldorf/Gossip Girl Inspired hair on another technique that will help.
Q4: Ive done ALL of that and it still wont curl!! What do I do?!
A4: Try a smaller iron, like a 1 inch.
Q5: Where can I buy Citre Shine/that curling iron?
A5: At WalMart or any Drug store. Make sure you buy the SPRAY not the SERUM.
Q6: How long did this take?
A6: My hair was mid length and very thick, and the process took about 20 minutes. Itll be different if you have longer/shorter, thinner/thicker hair.
This next part isnt really questions, more like recommendations.
People with
Short hair: Curling hair is easier with a flat iron and ¾ inch curling iron.
Shoulder length: You can use a ¾ and 1 inch curling iron to curl your hair. Any thing bigger is just going to give you waves.
Mid length hair: You can use a ¾, 1in, 1.25in, 1.5in curling irons. The smaller the barrel, the tighter the curl.
Past the waist length: Use any size you want, just make note that if you use a smaller barrel curling iron, it WILL take you longer to curl.
Curling iron brands: Quality
These are just my personal opinions, but the ¾ inch and 1inch curling irons by Revlon and Conair are awesome for their price ($10) and can be bought virtually anywhere. While they do make good 1.5inch and 2inch ones, if you have fine/hard to curl hair, their bigger irons are NOT for you. Theyre great if your hair curls REALLY well, but if not, Id recommend going with a higher quality iron (ie one that has the degree settings on it) For you guys with fine/hard to curl hair, youre going to have to invest in a higher quality iron. Id recommend Hot Tools or Helen of Troy. Ive had experience with those irons and can vouch for their quality. Theyre around $30-$40 and are worth it if you love to curl your hair.
