Got the Camp Internet Fixed
Hey guys good news.
We got a new satelite high speed internet hookup at the camp so I can blog while we are at the lake. I cruising in style on out 1 meg dish connection and it works like a charm. It’s not as fast as my 3 meg at home, but it is so much faster than dialup I almost cried when I started surfing. I’m serious!
It’s been a real pain to try and keep up with the blogs on that damn phone modem. The lines are so bad out here I could never get better than 28.8 and we would get disconnected anytime the wind blew. As many of you know I manage several blogs and forums to support customers and clients. It was getting almost useless to come to the camp to relax knowing I’d have to spend over 3 hours to get my daily updates done. (Waiting for dialup is NOT relaxing).
But now we’re in business. I ran my whole task list in about 40 minutes before the wife and kids even got out of bed. Anyway I highly recommend this Wildblue system. We pay about $80 a month but it’s fast enough to pay for itself on one good weekend. They installed it all for me and the setup was 100 bucks. The best part is now we also have our phone line back. Cell phones don’t work out here so it’s good to have the phone line free in case we get a call.
