When a newcomer to promoting a web business or starting a work at home business online begins this venture what are the most common mistakes they make? This would include any business that involves internet marketing but especially the work from home income opportunity type.

The failure to modify, and test.

You MUST, and I do mean MUST… Test your strategies, looking at the results, and then make modifications again and test again.

Also, most people come into the business with the theory, I’m going to start making $10,000 this month. Unless they have a huge budget to start with, it’s not going to happen.

Internet marketing is a game of education, practice, testing, and as my fiancee tells me "Try and Try Until Success".

I spend a fair amount of money on education every month, simply because I don’t want to learn all of it by trial and error.

But even with everything I’ve learned, I still test, and test, and test.. and try new things, and change that, and keep on keeping on..

Horror stories abound about affiliate programs and networks that don’t live up to promises. Many of these stories are always related in some way to illegal programs or pyramid schemes and scams.

You must try to avoid these programs at all cost, and to do that, you must find high quality programs that offer excellent products and service that you can readily endorse and be proud of. There is already enough proof online to support the fact that these affiliate programs and honorable companies exist.

Participating in marketing affiliate programs allow you to work part-time from home and earn additional income. You get the opportunity to build and create residual income. You become an owner of a small business. Many entrepreneurs have become wealthy from marketing affiliate programs online.

To choose a good affiliate program, take note of the following time tested suggestions.

You should love the program and product that you will be promoting. This should be one of those programs that you can’t wait to get your hands on and can’t wait to show and tell friends and relatives about. This will be a product you will purchase and use personally. If this is the case, there could be many others like yourself who are also awed by this particular affiliate program along with the products.

The quality of the program must be excellent with an established reputable company. This company should be a leader in that particular industry. Knowing this, you can be assured that the standard of the program will be high.

Look for companies that offer real and useful products. Get testimonials, contact some users of the product, research your chosen product before endorsing it. How can I make money from affiliate programs?

I am looking to get started in affiliate marketing but I am not sure where to start. I am looking for basic step-by-step directions to get me started making money as I could sure use the extra income. Can you please help or point me in the right direction at least?

I just started doing affiliate marketing about 4 months ago as I wanted something to do part-time from home since I am a stay at home mom. My husband’s job is unstable, so we need some income to fall back on just in case. When I researched things I could do from home, affiliate marketing seemed the most lucrative, but then I found out just how many affiliate programs there are and I was so overwhelmed (which I’m sure you are too!)

Someone whom I met on a WAHM forum recommend that I check out www.mattbacak.com and I was blown away by him. This guy is a millionaire from doing marketing online. I read just about everything that I could read from Matt Bacak and decided that I was going to subscribe to his Marketing Dirt newsletter as well.

In the past 4 months since starting, I have learned so much and I totally recommend you check this guy out. I have not made that much money yet, as one thing you should know is that it does take time, but I am slowly starting to see more traffic to my sites and more sales, which I am thrilled about.

I am hoping by summer 2010, I can have 15 websites generating at least $2 a day each, so that would generate a monthly income of around $1000 which is great for part- time. Anyways, check out his site to learn what you should do and how to make money from affiliate programs.
